Aug. 4, 2024
On July 4, 2024, we hosted an informational booth at the annual Fourth of July Festival held at Memorial Park. This was our first time participating in the event, and our main goal was to greet people and promote our Treasury of Claremont Music Concert scheduled for July 27 at the Garner House. Despite the warm temperatures, the day was festive, with people out smiling and relaxed. There's something uniquely refreshing about having a "small town" experience, seeing familiar faces and friends passing by in a relaxed atmosphere.
We had a wonderful time meeting people, listening to stories, and learning about new avenues for exploration. Importantly, we were able to recruit a few volunteers for our upcoming events, which helps us expand our reach in the community with limited resources.
We couldn't help but admire some of the musical participants in the parade, especially the float by Granite Creek Community Church. It was beautifully decorated with custom props and featured a live band playing their theme song, "Here Comes the Sun"! I also learned about the Claremont Irregulars for the first time - a group that comes together once per year on July 4 just for the parade.
I managed to trust my better instincts and resisted applying for a spot in the parade this year since we were super busy planning the Treasury of Claremont Music Concert. However, I definitely want to try for next year! If you have an awesome idea for a parade entry or float, get in touch and share your thoughts.
